The book “BU DONG – When Strange Things Become Familiar” is all about people. It summarizes experiences and insights from international dealings. Next to topics like the fear of the strange and advancing globalization, it contains the key message: Don’t take everything for granted and don’t always take things so serious! Therefore, you will find many small episodes from various places, as only life can write them.
Episodes that await discovery relate to evil eye charms in Greece and Turkey, magical moments in Malaysia, and a Hollywood ending in the United States. Time and again, the book recalls eye-opening situations from different locations. Here the proverbial hungry bear in Greece is called out next to “foreign ghost men” in China and the true secret of Indian food. The American Harmonist movement is mentioned as well as Asian numerology, belief and superstition. Most of all, the book pays homage to all the great people around the globe.
“BU DONG” is all about international communication, great people, and going places in life. At the same time, it looks back at an eventful period in life of a frequent flyer and shows how to set reasonable goals. Not to forget that the book concluded a personally highly challenging life period: It became a “comeback with a paperback” at a turning point.
