That’s What Friends Are For...
 
Friendship bonds are such a great gift. It is outstanding to have someone, with whom you can talk about everything. In the end, it is not so important whether you call them comrades, buddies, or friends, but how you treat them, when they are not so good. Watching the movie “Things We Lost in the Fire” alone in a foreign country reminded me of reestablishing contact to a friend in need. And if it was only for a conversation over candlelight and a glass of tab water.
 
“Let’s stay in touch, let’s stay friends!” How often does this promise turn into lip service? Do we make enough time for each other? As time goes on, people drift into very different directions. Sometimes we lose sight of our friends over work and family. And then one day we are surprised that they are gone. Then again, we may wonder how long we can fight the “out of sight, out of mind”-reflex. If we really want to though, we can keep our friends, no matter what the distance is.
  
We had been friends for ages, and our music was at least as old. Attending a concert together offered a refreshing experience. The “Snakes” called, and we even answered. It had been a while since the deep cool guys had transformed the city hall into a “house of blue light.” Now we were back there, as songs full of sweet memories turned the place into a beehive of screaming sensation. After free heart rhythm massage by the bass drum, we slowly regained our sense of hearing at a nearby hot dog stand, over a cheesy Kransky sausage and a chewy “hunchback”-bread heel.
  
Over time, there were quite a few friendship highlights. For instance, when we set out to prove the slogan „No kangaroos in Austria“ wrong. And some friends remain unforgotten. But that is a different story...
