Forming and Transforming
  
Upon being confronted with change, initially, many people see what is being taken away from them rather than what they will get out of it. The more important is that change management involves affected people. Successful change is all about focus and resilience.
 
An incremental step of change is transformation. It stands for a far-reaching reshaping leading to a complete change in the internal and external appearance up to reinventing yourself. Next to functional and organizational alignment, above all, it involves culture change in views and practices. Business transformation involves most significant changes in how business is run – often by leveraging new digital tools – to better cope with shifts in market.
 
The theory of structuration states that structure leads to behavior, and in return behavior reinforces the same structure. A thorough governance helps to institutionalize the new processes. A change is only sustainable, if stepping backwards is prevented by literally breaking bridges that lead the way back. Only then will the change be sealed as the new normal.
